Today's Thoughts

It's 10:30 and everyone in my house is asleep...but me. I'm still unwinding and soaking up the silence.
I had to run to Issaquah today which I actually don't mind because did you know that the Issaquah Costco sells gelato waffle cones at the snack bar?! Yes 3 large scoops (same flavor or mix and match) for $1.50. you can't beat it. And since that's the only gelato I've ever had...it's good!
Maddie fell out of her crib on her head today-it was only a matter of time really. I'm surprised it took this long. She climbs to the top of the rail that goes up and down and balances there. Maybe that's why they don't make those cribs anymore :). I comforted her for maybe 10 seconds before the phone rang and I HAD to take the call. Then she fell asleep (or passed out for all I knew) on my floor. Zach claims he helped maddie fall asleep by patting her. We'll let him think that. What a nice big brother right?! So I made a craigslist run for bunk beds today. But the crib stays. Until she does it at least 5 more times...or knocks herself out cold. Whichever takes longer :)
I now know how people who want to bad things get rid of their fingerprints on their fingers...they clean ovens. My oven cleaner made my fingers peel. Guess I should wear gloves with that. I'll remember that in another 4 years when I find the time again :)
Maddie does not like to be alone. She screams going into the gym without her siblings. She refused the Fred Meyer playplace while I was going to shop. Excuse me but this is supposed to finally be my time to "pretend to shop" but really go sit in the cafe and eat a cup of soup all alone. Then when we come home it's constant "mom....come here a minute" or "mom show me that" Yes it's CUTE but how many times a day do I need to come see the box of wheat thins you scaled my pantry for while you watch the Princess singing movie. Maddie needs to be entertained. I guess I would be too if I always had 3 little crazy people with me.
Kyle started Little League baseball last week. Afternoons went as follows...tues baseball 5:30-7 wed piano lessons, thurs scouts 4:30-5:30 baseball 5:30-7. (and that's JUST Kyle..what will i do when the other 3 want to do stuff?!) I really dreaded this baseball thing. But i got an email today saying they are refunding our money b/c there are no teams to play.
When i told kyle he smiled (but since i was staring him down) it immediately went to shocked then sad faces. haha. i know he likes to laze on the couch and would all day if allowed...which leads to the next thing
Today I found 8 pages of hw in kyles backpack. I thought they were give yesterday (and as the teacher said in the friday packet "hw is due the next day") so he got all but 2 pages done. So i sent a note. Come to find out from another child's parent in the class...they are only given 2 pages a day. Kyle just never bothered to say anything. when asked He said Oh I just didn't feel like doing it. Oh well in that case let's just not. so i had to sent another note apologizing for my irresponsible child.
Finally my friend Calli's little girl is in Zach's school class. This is what she told me"Katelyn told me today about how Zach helped her while building blocks. He was helping her so another student would stop knocking over her tower and he told the teacher about it for her (of course that's like his favorite thing to do since it happened so much to him i'm sure)..so he is looking out for her"....I thought that was sweet. The ironic thing he ruins kyle's lego buildings almost daily. Interesting. Something to talk about when it happens again tomorrow :)

The Best Day Ever

Today was fantastic because .... it was Zach's first day of school! Which meant it was just Mads and I from 8:50-12:15! AWWWEEESSSOOMMEEE!!!!! yes i sang that. Even though i just went to the gym and did some serious cleaning I felt Free :) When Zach saw the bus coming up the road this morning he jumped up and down. Especially when he saw Miss Vicky driving. When he was dropped off his other favorite bus driver Miss Bernie told Zach that since his legs grew over the summer he no longer had to ride in the car seat. This is a day to remember. There were MANY fights and angry faces because of the bus carseats :) Today was a good day :)

Kyle is Baptized

Kyle was baptized last Saturday, Sept. 3. We have been looking forward to this for months. Every week our family night lessons have related to baptism in some way for the past 8 months. Kyle made a good choice. We had a really fun weekend. Ben's mom and dad came to share it with us. Saturday was spent hanging out in the morning. Ben and his dad took the kids to a thrift store to get small golf clubs so that they can practice with ben in the backyard.
The baptism started at 2:00 and there was 1 other child being baptized with him. Grandpa gave a talk on the Holy Ghost, Grandma said the closing prayer, and i played the piano. One thing that I remember most from Grandpa's talk is when he said the Holy Ghost is like glasses. He can see ok with out them but once he puts them on everything is much clearer...just as we can see things more clearly with the Holy Ghost. Kyle even invited his neighbor friend and family who aren't members. He came with his dad. I was touched how many people came for Kyle. Several of his primary teachers, Sister Simons, sister Henderson, Brother Knowlton, Brother Brooks, and the Broadbents. We were so grateful to have them there. Something funny...I made a big deal to ben how i needed to get a picture before the baptism...and then i thought i left the camera at home. So my father in law went back for the camera. He got the camera but it was my old one. The second he walked in I realized my camera was in my trunk the whole time! i felt so bad. so we only had time for one quick shot :)
After we celebrated by going to "u top it" frozen yogurt, and having Kyles favorite, ribs for dinner :)
On Monday, ben's parents took us to see Harry Potter because Kyle just finished reading the harry potter series while they were here. I was so impressed he finished ! that is what kyle spent his summer doing. Even Madelyn has a love for harry potter and has watched the movies with Kyle (gasp) She can name several of the characters and it's pretty cute:)

Months and months and months

It's been awhile. LONG while. Even though the kids have only been in school for a week I find myself having time to breathe...and now blog :) zach starts next week so it can only get better from here :)
I have lots to catch up on so I'll start with the first day of school. Ben and I walked the kids over to the school. Kyle was excited to see his friends and meet his teacher. I can sense the too cool for mom and dad happening soon :) he wasn't interested in my while in line to get into class :)
Sadie on the other hand was nervous. First day of kindergarten. Her teacher checked her in at the door but then sadie didn't know what to do. She knows 2 girls from church but their table was full. After about a minute i snuck past the teacher to see what was going on. She was on the verge of tears. She wanted to sit by her friends. I helped her to a table and introduced her to a little boy. I almost cried. I worried all day. She ended up having fun! I took her do the dr that afternoon b/c i suspected a uti. She has been off of the "preventative" low dose medicine for 3 weeks that she has been taking since april...and yes she has a uti. I can't believe it. I don't know when something is going to give and we'll figure out what's wrong.
All in all there were lots of smiles and almost a few tears. I am loving 2 in all day school. I must be crazy but I keep thinking I could totally do 5 kids:) that's just irresponsible.
