Sunday Afternoons

So apparently this is what we do at our house on Sunday afternoons....I told Kyle not to do this unless mom or dad are there...guess what he decided to do it without us- and he missed the beanbag!  lesson learned :)

Dino Day and Zachy

A few weeks ago we went to "Dino Day" at the Burke Museum (University of Washington campus).  Thanks to my father in law for finding it and getting us a season pass.  It's pretty small but the kids really enjoy it.  Every year the museum puts on this dino day dedicated to all things dinosaur.  We went .... not expecting large crowds but WOW were we suprised.  The line wrapped 1/2 way around the building!  But we felt pretty large because we held season passes we walked right up and went in :)  We learned all about the Triceratops dinosaur- watched people chisle pieces of bone out of rock or something, touched fossils, and went on a fossil dig.  Kyle's most exciting part was finding out what ATE the triceratops:)  pretty exciting :)  The picts I have are of the kids banging rocks to see if there are fossils inside.  They then get to keep their fossil.  Even Zach loves fossils :)
Now on to Zachy.  My sweet little man ;) haha.  So last week my mom was visiting ... it was one crazy week.  As part of this week my kids got sick.  Stomach flu sick.  Zach had it the worst by far.  After he got better he decided to get up at 5 am and be awake for the day!  Can you believe it?  That's just wrong.  I couldnt' just leave him in his crib he was SCREAMING "mom".  So i layed by him in my bed while he watched cartoons.  Children should not be allowed to wake up before PBS starts showing cartoons.  His new word is "foffle" (waffle) funny to watch him say it he makes his lips into a big "O" shape.  So I got him a waffle and milk and came back to bed.  A few minutes later the waffle is gone and he wants another!  So since that day he's been waking up between 6 and 6:30.  I know many of you think what's the big deal my kids have done that for years.  Mine don't :)  It's actually a bit refreshing to wake up early :)  it does make the pre-gym mornings LONG.  Well today I've wised up instead of making a second trip back downstairs within 10 minutes of the first "waffle" I now give him 2 at a time :)  smart huh haha.

We NEED Sleep!!!

Ok this has gone on for YEARS since the day Kyle was born he has stayed up late...11:00, midnight he can stay up later than me many nights.  I never understood what everyone was talking about - their babies went to bed at 7 or 8 pm....WHAT?!  In my dreams.  It consistently stayed this way for the past 5 1/2 years.  Kyle goes "to bed" at 8 or 9 and actually falls asleep at 11 or 12.  Sadie has started to follow in his footsteps.  They will sneak into eachothers rooms at night and play.  Of course when caught they are separated....that's if I have MY way.  Ben thinks oh there's no reason for them to wake up in the morning...they LOVE playing together- they are being friends.
My Zach is many things- all of you know what a pill he can be- BUT I finally learned what it means to have a baby that sleeps.  When an infant 7pm came and he was READY for Bed.  He will even now ask to go to bed!  Amazing.  He sleeps for 12 hours and naps.  He is an angel in the sleep department.  Maybe it just took me 3 tries to figure out how it should be done.  I have a few problems though
1. Kyle starts school in 5 short months and
2. When the baby comes my child that loves to sleep has to share a room with one of the others or be out of a crib and then the others can teach him their ways.
I'm really at a loss.  How do I MAKE Kyle go to bed.  I've read books....I'm reading books.  I can't lock him in his room- he has to go to the bathroom.
Maybe my bedtime routine needs a makeover.  I'm thinking of having quiet play time...no tv from like 6-7:30 if they need bath's it can be in there.  After that it's snack, stories, scriptures, and bed.  at like 8 or 8:15
Something's gotta give.  The DR is not concerned...not until he starts getting less than 6 hours of sleep.  I'm not sure about that.  Kyle is usually up around 8 so he's not sleeping in really late...hmmm maybe one of these new books I have will help?!  Got any tips???

Sadie the Ballerina

Ballet with Miss Mary is the best isn't it??!  I know many of you also have little girls in Miss Mary classes.  We started a little shaky 2 months ago - Sadie did not want to go into the first class once we got there but quickly realized that this is what "princesses" do :)  Plus Miss Mary has great stamps to put on little hands when class is over....This week Sadie learned she was "Awesome" .  It is the cutest thing ever to watch 12 little girls try to do beautiful ballet.  Even Zach and Kyle are momentarily transfixed by these ballerinias.  Sadie is excited to start the next session, practicing for a recital that she isn't doing but the "Somewhere over the rainbow" dance is just too cute.  Another favorite of mine is to watch her tap her pointed foot (she really can't point yet) to "H-e-l-l-o Miss Mary" in a sing songy voice...

Little Baby Daniels

I thought I'd show a picture of the ultrasound after seeing Melanie's- cool idea.  I had a bit more than 1 month ago...so I was like 7 or 8 weeks along.  I've never seen an ultrasound picture from this early but it's so neat that it actually looks like a baby ... duh right :)  Anyway thought I'd share- since i didn't scan it just took a picture of it it came out a little blurrier.  So the due date is August 30, and I find out boy or girl in April!
