The Burger that Broke My Heart

Since Saturday was so pretty (and everytime it's been nice this month Ben says "It's probably the last nice day until Spring") he wanted to go out.  This was my perfect chance for going to KiDD Valley burger.  I've been twice since we moved up here.  I LOVE it.  Ben doesn't think the food is anything special.  It's in Kirkland right on Lake Washington.  Across the street is a cute park and small beach.  The first time we went was our anniversary last year (we really go all out huh) after dinner we walked across the street for some park time.  Kyle decided to try out his swimming skills in jeans and sneakers, guess who had to fish him out.  It was fun.  So I love this burger place, i think just because of the fun times we've had.  I always ask if ben wants to go and he always says No thanks....until Saturday :)  Yeah we went.  However this time I have officially ended the relationship I have with KIDD.  I ordered, and it was overpriced (I didn't  remember this must have been my rose colored glasses:)) it's cooked to order so that's good, but they messed up our order 3 times (they kept "misreading" the receipt) i don't know how you do that, but the 3rd time Ben made me "let it go" and do without Ben's order of Onion Rings.  After eating my lunch I decided to was time for a DTR with KIDD ...we broke up.  Yes my friends it did break my heart :)  After though we walked across the street to let the kids play for quite awhile.  I was also disenchanted with the park because several people kept saying to me "how old is he??? (Zach)" "Oh he is way too young to be climbing on this" or other things like it.  Listen if he hasn't fallen and broken a body part yet, then it's definitely not worth the fight.  For those of you who have heard Zach scream you know what I mean :)  It was a fun family time but I don't think we'll be making the drive to Kirkland again anytime soon:)

Roller coaster of emotions

Today had been filled with extreme highs and lows.  We got up, Sadie was such a big girl - dry all night, then went 2 times before going to the dr.  We went to the dr, then stopped by a fun dollar store on the way home.  We were gone for 2 hours and not a single accident!!!  I felt like I conquered the world!!! YEAH for us!  Maybe we'll be able to go to the store later, or the gym tomorrow.  I'm planning all of the fun yet normal things we can do again.  Then she did great until about 1:30.  2 accidents, 1 just wet...ok i'll live.  the next she was in her room, I was helping kyle across the hall in his.  Sadie got up to shut her door, and i thought she's probably going to have an accident so I stopped her from shutting the door, and she said "I want to get that Barbie Car " goes to the toilet, pulls down her pants (I'm almost jumping up and down at this point screaming YEAH WE DID IT) just find a big mess.  I almost cried.  I'm so ready to be done.  The DR this morning at her 3 year check says I can't just be done...EVER....there's no going back now.  I don't think I agree.....now she's in a pullup I've had it!!!

The Deed

If any of you have tips/advice I am asking for it.  I went upstairs for 3 minutes to get Kyle ready for school and Sadie went under the table and did the big one.  Does this mean I should forget potty training, she's not ready?  Or do these kind of accidents just happen?  Kyle never had an accident, so I don't know..i'm really frustrated

Confinement day 2

Help me!!! It's potty training day 2 here.  It could definitely be worse.  We only totaled 2 accidents yesterday (1 on the stool getting to the right place) so it could be worse.  SHe's actually doing really well- she threw a mega fit when it was time for a pull-up at bedtime (which happened at 7 last night for all kids because really ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH)  that's also a record for me because that's NEVER happened before (that they actually went to bed)  It just hard to keep on her all the time.  And we have yet to earn that Barbie car (if you know what I mean) so we are waiting....in the mean time I am going CRAZY- I haven't been grocery shopping in almost 2 weeks (last week was busy...and I haven't been able to leave obviously) and I get stir crazy - I can't go to aerobics  or the gym for fear of accidents and completely throwing her off and messing up the whole potty training schedule.  My treadmill just isn't calling my name today :)  I also have piles of laundry but i just can't go in the laundry room you know that scene on Home Alone where he goes in the basement and imagines that the furnace is a terrible monster or something?? that is how I see my washing machine every time I walk past the room....AHHHHH

I thought this video of Sadie pushing Zach in his "moon"car was too funny not to post

Sadie's Birthday

Well yesterday Sadie turned 3!!! Hooray!!  It was such a fun day.  I asked her what she would like to do for her birthday and she said "Go eat nuggets" so to McDonalds we went.  We stayed extra long at a play place we hadn't been to before (thank you Tami for the "treehouse" recommendation) :) Later that evening Sadie opened gifts, and went out and rode her new trike.  We had cake and then Sadie even went to the bathroom like a big girl (today is potty training day)but I've been prepping her all weekend.
I have to say though it added to the greatness of the day for me because one of my favorite shows Heroes started again last night....and there were 2 new intense episodes. It was way too good.  So unfortunately my summer evenings of being productive, cleaning the house, doing laundry, reading books, and working out (i hope to continue- I did last night) is OVER.  I love fall tv shows...is that wrong?!!  :)

The Nerve

Yesterday we went to wal-mart.  I got to my van and noticed a lady in the parking space across from me looking at me.  I thought to myself that it must be really entertaining to watch me load my kids and things into the van or something.  So I will confess this, though it makes me nervous....I didn't return my shopping cart to the "shopping cart coral" which was way down the aisle.  I left it in the empty space next to me...(I was parked far away and in a hurry, but no excuse i know) and i get into the van, start it up and look up and the lady gestures at me to get my shopping cart!!!  I was so irritated that i just shrugged my shoulders and left.  I felt soooo rude!!! I still feel bad.  The day before ben was up in Kirkland and on a business call waiting for meeting, so he pulled his car over in a subdivision.  After about15 minutes a lady came out of her house and knocked on his window.  He had to put his call on hold for her to say "Could you turn your car off I'm concerned about Global Warming"!!!
I would personally never have the nerve to do either of these things.  I just was too annoyed not to write about it.....

An Unbelievable Sunday Drive

So we decided it would be fun to go for a nice Sunday Drive as we got out of stake conference at 12.  We hurried home, ate dinner, and left around 1.  We set out to see Mt Rainier up close.   So I grabbed a few snacks for the kids, my diaper bag (which had 2 diapers in it), and the stroller-we almost didn't even take this.  Zach was in bare feet, but I made the kids wear shoes.  We thought we'd be gone about 3 hours.  I had a pretty bad headache, and tylonal or ib profen didn't help.  So in the car I took a viacadin which for all of you thinking it may have been a bit extreme it didn't even take it away!!! I still have it :) On our way in there was an accident blocking one lane so we waited for probably 20 minutes, and 2 miles to get through.I started feeling sick, afraid it was the medicine I took- but I think it was the bumpy roads....though I never get car sick...unless I'm pregnant.  No don't even go there!  Anyway we drove a while further and decided to come home because we didn't feel like going into the national park well this time Plus we have the trusty GPS you know??  We drove for about 1 1/2 hours and the road dead ended (thank you GPS) and  turned around and drove for about 10 minutes and realized our back tire was flat.  So ben changed it.  We kept going this time REALLY slow. And we were VERY careful not to go over rocks...so we thought Not 10 minutes later we got another flat!!! We could see the air pouring out of the tire we had jumped out and ben said "turn the car off" so i quick as I could went to do so (we didn't know that it was just the tire at this point) and smacked my forehead on the door frame of the car. I seriously almost blacked out for a second!!  So I have a fairly large egg bump on the middle of my forehead I'm sure will turn black and blue.  We had no cell signal.  So we "walked" up the mountain probably about 2 (1 hour) miles to where we could get service to call his parents to find  a tow truck.  thank goodness we had the big stroller.  After a few calls there was a truck that would come get us.  But ben was going to have to meet him at the paved road (like 10 miles back in 1 hour)!! So he took off running and I walked with the kids back to the car for shelter/warmth. FYI we're still in our church clothes!!!  We made it back to the car in an hour just as it was getting dark.  Remember in my Tagged List I say that I plan emergency escape routes...well I was except this time it happened to be how to get away from a bear or mountain lion.   Ben after about 5 miles ran into a HUNTER hunting bear (confirmed all my fears on the way down to the car of bears) and he took ben down the mountain to a store where he waited for not 2 minutes when the tow truck showed up.  I made it back to the car with the kids as it was becoming dark (about 8 now)- we started walking up the mountain at 5:30...the tow truck made it almost to our car about 8:30  but we had to drive it 1/2 mile on the rim cause a boulder blocking part of the road.  Yeah that sounded TERRIBLE like fingernails on a chalkboard.  Well the tow took us (were were back in the mountains 10 miles!!, and our car to the paved road where ben called a friend before he took off "running" (very very good friend that didn't mind coming to help us- thank you Chris Lunsford)  He saved us really!  He was able to find the intersection where we were and took us home.  We couldn't say thank you enough. So our car is stuck in Enumclaw, but at least it's not in some mountain somewhere!! It could have been SO MUCH WORSE.  I'm so thankful that we were able to get home, and get our car out (the tow truck driver kept telling ben he should have his four wheel drive truck...so we're lucky it wasn't someone else who refused to go over these mountains to get us), and have some one that was kind enough to come and get us.  We finally arrived home at about 10:30!! A sunday drive not to be forgotten!!!

We LOVE the Zoo!!!

Today we went to the Point Defiance Zoo...my kids love the zoo.  We've gone there or Woodland Park Zoo almost every week since we bought the season pass.  Just FYI if you buy a membership to Salt Lake's Hogle Zoo it will get you into both of the zoo's here instead of just one or the other-and it's cheaper :)  Anyway it was so fun!  Thought I'd include a few pictures mostly of just the aquarium stuff. I love the one of Kyle "petting" the walrus....  Sadie loves Beluga Whales, and thanks to Kyle and I sings "Baby Beluga" frequently...Zach tries to join in too...don't ask me where I learned it cause I don't know maybe a product of my years growing up watching Sesame Street??? I also don't know any other words.  If you don't know the tune just pretend like you never read this because I will NEVER sing it for you :)  Only my children get the pleasure of hearing me "sing".

My week is here

So a couple of times a year Ben leaves for an entire week- usually to go to Ohio where is company is based. The week is here. Don't get me wrong there is nothing I love more than spending time with Ben. But when he is gone I make all of the things that he doesn't like to have for dinner, I go "natural" - no make up/ponytail-I know what your thinking "Wendy take some pride in yourself" yeah I know I really don't go out much during the week :) and I manage to do lots of things that need to be done. So for the beginning of the week I pretty much just read a book I've been totally in to - The Other Boleyn Girl. So good, well pretty trashy actually but Ben encourages the trashy side a bit :) haha so I don't feel bad :) i just finished it last night. I always stay up really late (yes tonight I'm watching the movie to see how it compares to the book)I even bought myself a thing of Ben and Jerry's (it took a lot for me to write that because I think if nobody knows I ate it but me the calories won't count) today I've been a bit bored since I finished my book so I've cleaned out closets to make room for fall clothes, cleaned out my junk cupboards, and went to step aerobics...I think it's all the Diet Coke I've been drinking to keep me sane with the kids:) There's no point to this post really, I just felt like writing.

"Your dentists name is Crentist?!"

So you can probably guess from that line that I am an Office fan!!! We love it. Besides the point. I went to the dentist today for the first time since Zach was born....I could list all of the REALLY good excuses I have to not go-but lets face it it's still embarrassing. With moving so much I've been to like 5 different dentists and they all have different things to say - which pretty much mean to them "cha-ching"$$$ you know they just see the dollar signs when they look in my mouth. My diagnoses have included- 15 cavities- 2 cavities (non filled in between going to this new dentist)- 9 cavities + 2 crowns and a root canal...to my latest and final from this morning no regular fillings but 2 root canal/crowns oh yeah and 2 Veneers however that's spelled...but i'm sooo sure! I'm just dying to spend money on my teeth! Cause i have so much I don't know what to do with it :) ....AHHHH I've had one and have always told Ben I would rather have another baby (yes I say that even have NATURAL childbirth!!!) then have another root canal. Of course there is the $ thing, my insurance is good but we still have to pay. When I think of spending large sums of money i think of buying a nice furniture piece or a playground thing for the yard...NOT another piece of porcelain to add to my collection :) Maybe i should get gold crowns this time so i have something "flashy" to show for it :) haha so in short I HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST....I just had to vent!

Labor Day Camping Trip

Finally after moving to WA over a year ago we did something FUN!!!! We went camping for a night on the Olympic Penninsula, in Sequim and spent time in Port Angeles (Yes to all of you Twilight Fans in the drizzle on Friday night I was hoping Edward would make an appearance :) When we go camping with Ben's family it's just somewhere on the mountain. Kyle was really confused why people were so close to us and close to the road so we had to tell him that we go "fake" camping or to a hotel where you set up your tent :) In the morning the kids playing in the Tide Pools....Kyle LOVED finding crabs, collected them in a cup- even got pinched a few times- but was sad to leave them in the end. Then we spent some time in the afternoon at Salt Creek State Park, they had a playground, and Ben and kyle few a kite. It was beautiful out and just the perfect little trip!!!

Our First Blog

So I've decided to become a "blogger". After much resistance and debating if I should even try such a thing I have set up a blog. Obviously it needs LOTS of help! So all you seasoned bloggers feel free to give advice :)
