The title of this post says it all. there's nothing more I can say. ugh.
I am THE WORST MOM EVER. don't worry you don't need to reassure me that I'm not. It's just the facts. I've accepted it. ben's out of town makes everything so much worse sometimes. Starts off like any other day. Can't get everyone moving finally we get drop Sadie at school only 5 minutes late, and head to the gym. But Zach wants to go home. Not a good sign. But he ended up only going in time out once .... yes sadly that's a great day for him.
Then it's a quick trip into Walmart. A few weeks ago I was washing my crockpot, it slipped out of my hands in the sink and shattered. Thought I could live without it but I can't. so we grabbed a new one and lost zach at the checkout for a few minutes.
I was supposed to pick my neighbor up from school with kyle and guess what. I forgot. Until the teacher called me and asked if I was supposed to be getting him. Luckily he only waited about 10 minutes extra since I ran out my door and was there in a minute.. But I felt REALLY bad.
Then it was on to McD's for dinner. But in the first 5 minutes Zach hit a kid that was blocking his path, and I was told he is being too "abrasive" with the little kids to be there. so we ate in the lobby while i fought back tears.
Finally we make it home, kids in bed at 7 and I get on the treatmill. All is good. Until i give maddie a bath and set her on my bed while i go get her clothes. She manages to fall off, hit the open drawer to my nightstand and almost poke her eye out, or go blind. Hopefully she's ok. but a little baby shouldn't have hurts like this. but she still smiles. even though she is now blind. ok not really but she's been grabbing at toys while i cover the other eye. so i think she is ok. that's my diagnosis.
THEN while i'm worried if she can see or not Kyle comes out of the bathroom (he was put to bed 1 hr 30 min ago now) anyway he was in there a long time. i said what are you doing. He said well i was looking at my ear in the mirror. It just feels funny. So i said Let me see. Oh yeah I'm not sure why it feels weird at all. maybe it's the huge piece of mechanical pencil eraser shoved down his ear opening. for real. I didn't think i could get it out but finally i did. thanks to the jagged edge of him biting it. So i take a quick glance in the other ear. Surprise there's some there too. Wow it really doesn't get better than this. I need to go to bed. Tomorrow will be a new day. A new day with a baby that has a black eye.

I'm sorry you had a bad day. :( I really don't know how you do it day in and day out but I still think you're amazing and such a good example to me so hang in there! Tomorrow will be better :) Miss you and love you! And can't wait to see you at the end of March!
Wow, what a day! I have hard days as a mom of one, so I can only imagine what it's like with 4. Even kids that have a GREAT mom (like you) get hurt sometimes. It just happens. I'm sure Maddie's eye will get better soon! And hopefully Kyle will not put anything else in his ear! Haha! That made me laugh :)
Oh Wendy, that is one sad day! I'm so sorry! I hope you have a better day today! Good Luck!
Ahhhh...motherhood. We all have days like that. You're an amazing mom. Little people just create their own brand of chaos and as mothers it is our job to claim it and clean it up. But I bet you that if you asked any of your kids at the end of the day, they'd quickly say you are the best mom in the world and they love you! And someday they'll be bigger and living somewhere else and it'll all make you laugh! (at least that's what I've been told)
What a terrible terrible day! We all have days like that. What a jerk mom at Mcdonald's. If I was there I would've yelled at her, seriously. That makes me mad.
I'm sorry! It must be rough having Ben gone so much. I think you're doing great. Hang in there.
I wish I lived down the street so I could help. :(
Me too!, Grandma's shouldn't be so far away. Wendy I love you. You always make me laugh and tell your stories with such vivid clarity. I know it seems impossible, but this too will pass, and you will at least have your blog to remind you of the "good ol days" ").
You poor thing! You can barely notice Maddie's "black eye". What I really want to know is how Kyle got erasers stuck in his ears?? haha both of them?! lol Kids do the weirdest things,I swear! I hope you know that you really are a great mom though, and, like Heather said, I bet all of your children would say you are the best mom in the world and that's all that matters! =] Seriously call me if you ever need help with the kids or anything on Mondays or Tuesdays since those are my days off...I'd be happy to help (watch the little ones while you take the older ones to school, etc.)! =]
Oooh, you poor mommy. That is a bad day. If you don't want me to reassure you that you aren't a bad mommy, just believe me when I tell you that we are all bad mommies! Last week I completely forgot to take Julia to school. Don't know how I spaced that one, but it made me feel like an awful person.
Picturing you guys in the Lobby instead of the toys at McD was the heartbreaker for me! I am SOOOO sorry it was such a BAD day. And it is ALWAYS worse when your man is gone, because you have no escape! As for the bump on the eye :( Riley fell down in the room that I use to do Hair at our last house right when she was old enough to stand and got a huge cut between the eyes... I cried and cried and cried. Nothing hurts more than thinking it is your fault! BUT luckily-little bumps heal and little ones are "made of rubber" (as JT always says)
Hang in there. It will be one of us next week- and you can tell US to hang in there!
I know how it goes with Husbands "gone"....I only have mine 3 days out of 4. I have had similar days....but I know you're a good mom! Thank goodness for "fresh starts" each morning. Hope today is going better!
PS I LOVE YOUR FAMILY PICTURE. Cute, happy smiling faces! ADORABLE!
